Singapore Business Class For Up To 4 People
Usually, I try not to send Award Alerts for space to the same country one after the other but I couldn't help myself with this one. I mean, who doesn't love a fun fifth-freedom route?!
My friend (and STTP Premium member) Jody flagged that Alaska Mileage Plan was showing Singapore award space again. Naturally, I decided to see if there was business class space on their fifth-freedom route between LAX to Tokyo Narita (NRT). Well, we're in luck! There are dates with up to 4 seats.
While business class award space is typically limited to Singapore KrisFlyer members, you can book these dates with Alaska Mileage Plan and Lufthansa Miles and More. I will note that KrisFlyer members can book 4 seats on many dates, while Alaska and Lufthansa only have access to 2 seats.
Now, let's get into it!

Travel Restrictions and Requirements
With travel restrictions changing by the day, please take a look at the US embassy site for your destination. Here's a link to Japan to get you started.
Flight Experience
Singapore Airlines offers an amazing Book the Cook option so you can pre-book your meal choices from an extensive menu prior to your flight. Just keep in mind that you need to select your meal options at least 24 hours prior to your flight if you want to pre-book.
The business class cabin is arranged in a staggered 1-2-1 layout and each seat turns into a lie-flat bed. I'd suggest grabbing one of the bulkhead seats for maximum comfort as you'll have significantly more room for your feet.
Of course, you can expect the crew to be amazing as is regularly the case with Singapore Airlines.

Best Ways To Book
If you have transferable points, Singapore KrisFlyer is THE way to book at 92,000 miles one-way. You can transfer points from Amex, Brex, Capital One, Chase, Citi, and even Marriott. I'd like this rate to be lower but the easy with which you can earn the necessary points does offset the higher rate.
If you want to connect on your way to Singapore or other parts of SE Asia, you'll need 95,000 miles. Keep in mind that you can include a free stopover on round-trip saver awards or pay ~$100 for a stopover on a one-way saver award.
If you have Alaska miles, or Marriott points, 80,000 miles will get you a one-way business class ticket.
If you want to include a connection or stopover on your way to Singapore (or somewhere else in SE Asia), the rate will be 100,000. I will note that I only saw economy space from Tokyo to Singapore.
If you happen to have Lufthansa miles and are looking for a way to use them, you 71,000 miles for a one-way business class award on Singapore Air is a solid way to go since there aren't any surcharges.

How To Book
To search for award space with Singapore Air:
- Select redeem miles
- You'll be prompted to log into your account
- Enter the origin & destination
- Select your dates
- Select the class of service
- Select the number of people
- Run the search
- Select the flight
- Complete the booking
Transfers from bank partners (and Marriott) are not always instant. Newer accounts have seen slower transfer times in the past. Plan on transfers taking up to 48 hours. Maybe, you'll get lucky and it'll take less than 12 hours!
If booking with Alaska miles or Lufthansa miles, I'd search on Alaska's site. To run a calendar search, use this link and follow these steps:
- Select one-way or round-trip
- Enter origin and destination
- Select Use Miles
- Select Award Calendar (if you want to see multiple dates)
- Select number of passengers
- Select date(s)
- Select Find Flights
If booking with Alaska miles, complete the booking there.
To book with Lufthansa miles, you can do so on the Miles and More site.
