Flight Experience
On some routes, flights are operated by an A330-900neo or A330-200. Both aircraft have a 1-2-1 business class cabin, but the A330neo is the nicer of the two. Many routes are operated by an A321neo with a combo 1-1/2-2 business class layout. It's basically the same layout as the older JetBlue Mint product.
While the food won't blow you away, the crews are friendly.

Best Ways To Book
ANA Milage Club: Best Round-Trip Rate
If you're booking a round-trip ticket (with or without a connection), transferring 88,000 Amex points to ANA Mileage Club is a great option. Keep an eye on the taxes and fees if you connect within Europe on Austrian, Lufthansa, or Swiss.
Please note that transfers from Amex to ANA can take 2-3 days.
Note: This award rate is increasing to 100,000 miles on April 18, 2024.
Avianca LifeMiles: Great One-Way Option
On many routes, LifeMiles has the advantage over Aeroplan at 63,000 miles one-way. However, if you have Amex points, LifeMiles is offering a 15% transfer bonus until March 15, 2024. This makes it your best one-way option regardless of the route as you'll only need to transfers 55,000 Amex points.
Please note that this transfer bonus is on the LifeMiles side, so you won't see it reflected in the number of points you transfer from Amex.
Air Canada Aeroplan: Great East Coast Option
From the east coast, Aeroplan is your best bet at 60,000 points one-way if you have Bilt, Capital One, or Chase points. Typically, it's the best with Amex, but the LifeMiles x Amex transfer bonus gives LifeMiles the edge with Amex.
If you have the Chase Aeroplan Credit Card, you can get a 10% bonus when you transfer 50,000+ Chase points. If you have the Aeroplan card, you'd only need to tranfser 55,000 Chase points to get 60,000 Aeroplan points.
You can use GCmap to calculate your total flight distance and double-check Aeroplan's zone-based chart. You can also include a stopover for 5,000 additional miles on a one-way award.

If you're not sure what dates you want, you can use United to search:
- From United's homepage, select Advanced search
- Choose to show price in miles
- Enter the origin & destination
- Select your dates or choose Flexible dates and choose a month
- Select nonstop
- Select the number of passengers
- Select Business
- Show flights from "Star Alliance airlines"
- Run the search
- Transfer points (if necessary)
- Log into your account
- Run the search again
- Complete the booking
Once you know the exact dates you want, you can run the search with the program you'll be using to book. As always, I recommend confirming the program you're using sees the award space before you transfer points.

Final Thoughts
If you're able to fly out of Montreal, this could be a great option for a late summer trip to Europe. From other airports, there are plenty of dates if you want to travel in the fall and winter.
