| Book Your Stay In Switzerland With VIP Perks |
| | | Flight Experience The food and service are both solid. If you can get one of the throne seats, it's even better as you'll have tons of space -- the armrests are like small tables. If traveling with someone, you might want to choose seats in the middle section.
Unless you have Miles & More Senator or Hon Circle status, you won't be able to select the throne seats for free until 24-48 hours prior to departure (if available). However, you can pay ~$150-200 for a throne seat.

| | | Lifemiles: Great Option On Many Routes
Lifemiles is your best option for JFK to Zurich non-stop at 55,000 LifeMiles if you have Amex, Bilt, Capital One, or Citi points. On the Geneva route, 60,000 points is a solid rate but matched by Aeroplan.
Other routes and/or itineraries with connections will require 69,000 lifemiles. This is a good choice with Citi points, but I would look to Aeroplan otherwise.
Aeroplan: Great Option, Best With Chase Transfer Bonus
If you have Bilt, Capital One, or Chase points, Aeroplan is your best bet at 60,000 points for a nonstop from the east coast on routes other than JFK-Zurich.
While 70,000 points for a non-stop from the central US and west coast is 1,000 more points than lifemiles, it’s easier to work with Aeroplan if there are issues so I’m willing to use a few more miles.
If you fly the west coast routes and need a connection on either end, you’ll likely bump the rate up to 90,000 Aeroplan points.
Aeroplan award chart. You can use GCmap to calculate your total flight distance. A stopover requires 5,000 additional miles on a one-way award.
Chase Aeroplan + Chase Points
If you have the Chase Aeroplan Card, you can get a 10% bonus when you transfer 50,000+ Chase points. Depending on the route, that means you’ll only need to transfer 55,000 or 64,000 Ultimate Rewards points for a non-stop award.
This could give Aeroplan the advantage on all non-stop routes plus many options that include connecting flights.
United: Niche Use With Bilt or Chase Points
If your total flight distance exceeds 6,000 flight miles, Aeroplan will require 90,000 points. United will require 88,000 miles regardless of the total distance, At that point, United has a slight advantage over Aeroplan. Plus, you can use United’s Excursionist Perk on a round-trip award. |
| How To Search
You can use United to search.
