Swiss Business Class To Europe, Up To 8 Seats
We have a couple of cities with Swiss business class award space for up to eight people on a bunch of dates. You'll find availability on dates this spring and fall, with a few in the summer. With the upcoming Bilt Transfer bonus promo, this could be a great way to book.
I'll note that there is more space on the return than the outbound segment.

Flight Experience
The food and service are both solid. If you can get one of the throne seats, it's even better as you'll have tons of space -- the armrests are like small tables. If traveling with someone, you might want to choose seats in the middle section.
Unless you have Miles & More Senator or Hon Circle status, you won't be able to select the throne seats for free until 24-48 hours prior to departure (if available). However, you can pay ~$150-200 for a throne seat.

Best Ways To Book
Avianca LifeMiles: Best With Amex, Bilt, Capital One, or Citi
LifeMiles is a great option at 63,000 miles one-way if you have Amex, Bilt, Capital One, or Citi points. If you need a domestic or intra-EU connection or aren't flying from the east coast, this could be a better option than Aeroplan.
Air Canada Aeroplan: Best With Chase or Huge Bilt Bonus
If you have Chase points, Aeroplan has is better at 60,000 points for a nonstop from Montreal. From Washington Dulles, it'll be 70,000 points for the nonstop.
If you connect within the US or Europe, you could jump to the next tier on the award chart.
However, if you transfer Bilt points on February 1, you can take advantage of a 75-150% transfer bonus. The bonus is determined by your Bilt status. Here's how many Bilt points you'd need to get 70,000 Aeroplan points for the nonstop from Washington Dulles:
- Platinum: 28,000 Bilt points
- Gold: 32,000 Bilt points
- Silver: 35,000 Bilt points
- Blue: 40,000 Bilt points
Aeroplan award chart. You can use GCmap to calculate your total flight distance. A stopover requires 5,000 additional miles on a one-way award.
United MileagePlus: Niche Use With Chase
If your total flight distance exceeds 6,000 flight miles, Aeroplan will require 90,000 points. United will require 88,000 miles regardless of the total distance, At this point, United has a slight advantage over Aeroplan.
Plus, you can use the United Excursionist Perk on a round-trip award.

How To Book
United is a good place to start your search.
- From United's homepage, select Advanced search
- Choose to show price in miles
- Select Roundtrip or One-way
- Enter the origin & destination
- Select Nonstop only (if you don't need a connection)
- Select the number of passengers
- Select your dates or choose Flexible dates and choose a month
- Select Business
- Run the search
- If booking with another Star Alliance partner, confirm space by searching with that program
- Transfer points (if necessary)
- Log into your account
- Run the search again
- Complete the booking
Once you know the exact dates you want, you can run the search with the program you'll be using to book. As always, I recommend confirming the program you're using sees the award space before you transfer points.

Final Thoughts
This is a great chance to lock in business class flights for the spring or fall. It's even better if you can take advantage of the Bilt transfer bonus on February 1!
Happy Booking!
