Air Europa Business Class To Madrid

Air Europa is rarely discussed, but you can find up to 9 seats in business class between JFK and Madrid. Most of the space is on the outbound leg from JFK, so you might need to pair this with another award booking to get home.

Now, let’s get into it!

Flight Experience

Air Europa’s 2-2-2 business class cabin layout isn’t my favorite since only some seats have direct aisle access. However, seats are lie-flat so you can at least be comfy. Plus, you can expect the crews to be friendly and the inflight catering to be solid.

On some dates, you’ll find the newer 1-2-1 reverse herringbone layout. Try to book these dates if you can for the best experience.

Best Ways To Book

Etihad Guest: More Award Space, Solid Rate With Transfer Bonus

Etihad is the only program showing award space online and is likely the only program that will allow you to book more than two award seats.

If you have Citi ThankYou Points, you can get a 40% bonus when you transfer 50,000+ points. That means you’ll only need to transfer 65,000 points to book.

Please note that this transfer promo is run by Etihad so you won’t see the bonus reflected when you transfer points from Citi.

Important: The terms state that the bonus points will post within 15 business days from the end of the promo, October 31, 2024. However, when Etihad ran the same promo for Capital One earlier this year, the bonus miles generally posted right away.

Cancellation Fees:

  • 21+ days from departure: 25% of miles redeemed

  • 8 to 21 days from departure: 50% of miles redeemed

  • 1-7 days from departure: 75% of miles redeemed

  • Within 24 hours: 100% of miles redeemed

Flying Blue: Great Rates, China Transfer Bonus

If a Flying Blue phone agent can see space. Traditionally, Flying Blue has only seen two award seats.

Flying Blue's award rate for Air Europa is an excellent 43,000 miles one-way. However, with Amex’s 20% transfer bonus, you’ll only need to transfer 36,000 points. You can also transfer points from Amex, Bilt, Capital One, and Citi.

You can include a stopover on a one-way but you'll need to call to book and the rate might increase.
