Emirates Business Class To Milan, Up to 9 Seats

Since sending this last week, first class award space has opened up as well. Now, it's only for one person per flight but you can often upgrade from business class to get a second seat.

Earlier this year, Emirates stopped flying one of their Airbus A380s on the JFK to Milan route. With the Boeing 777, you didn't get a lie-flat seat nor did you get to experience the fun inflight bar.

Well, that changes in the spring! The A380 is coming back!

With that in mind, I wanted to flag some business class award space so you can lock in your flights on the A380. You can find dates throughout the year, including summer dates.

Flight Experience

Emirates business class on the A380 is a solid option for a trip to Europe. The business class cabin is arranged in a 1-2-1 layout so everyone has direct aisle access and a lie-flat seat.

However, the big selling point on the A380 is the world-famous inflight bar at the rear of the cabin. Definitely worth hanging out at the bar with your friends - or, new friends you've just met - while having a drink.

If you grab a first class seat, you'll get to enjoy more privacy, Dom Perignon champagne, caviar, an inflight shower, and a great set of pajamas.

Best Ways To Book Business Class

Emirates Skywards: Access To More Award Space

With so few dates available to partners, Emirates is your best bet. While 87,000 miles for a one-way business class ticket to Europe isn't mind-blowing, Emirates points are easy to earn thanks transfer partners.

If a first class seat is open at check-in, you should be able to upgrade for 30,000 miles one-way. I would do this on the flight from Milan to JFK so you can be awake to enjoy it!

Emirates Skywards+

Emirates offers three tiers of Skywards+ subscriptions. The Classic option is $399 per year and the one that might be worth considering as this membership provides a 20% discount on one Skywards Classic Reward each year.

If you were to book multiple round-trip tickets (or a bunch of one-ways) on one reservation, you might save enough points to make it worth buying. Let's look at how many points you'd need for round-trip award tickets.
  • 1 ticket: 139,200 miles (save 34,800 miles)
  • 2 tickets: 278,400 miles (save 69,600 miles)
  • 3 tickets: 417,600 miles (save 104,400 miles)
  • 4 tickets: 556,800 miles (save 139,200 miles)

Best Ways To Book First Class

Similar to business class, Emirates Skywards has access to more first class award space. In fact, some partners can't even book it. At 102,000 Emirates miles, it's a solid option to book! Personally, I'd focus on booking the flight to the US in first so you can stay awake to enjoy it.

If you need two seats, you might consider booking one in first and one in business then trying to upgrade at check-in.

How To Book

Search with Emirates:
  1. Visit Emirates' site
  2. Select "Log in to earn and spend Skywards Miles" and log in
  3. Check the box "Classic rewards"
  4. Enter your origin/destination
  5. Select your departure and/or return date(s) via calendar
  6. If booking one-way, check box "One-way" above calendar
  7. Check box for "My dates are flexible (-/+ 3 days)"
  8. Select number of passengers
  9. Select class of service
  10. Select date
  11. Select flight

Final Thoughts

The Emirates business class bar easily makes this one of the most fun options for flying to Europe. The fact that award space is so wide open makes it even better, esp. if you want to travel with friends and family.

If you want to really lean into luxury, book a first class ticket with points!

Happy booking!
