Flight Experience

LATAM operates Boeing 787s on these routes. While some of their 787-9s have their newer business class product, none of their 787-8s do. I would expect to get the older product.

The older business class cabin will be arranged in a 2-2-2 layout. This layout is open so there isn't any privacy. Each seat will be lie-flat. If you're traveling solo, a middle section seat is ideal since both seats have direct aisle access.

The catering and crew both get solid marks overall.

Best Ways To Book

Virgin Atlantic: Great Option With 30% Transfer Bonus

Virgin's 95,000-point one-way rate isn't competitive.

However, if you have Amex points, the 30% transfer bonus means you'd only need to transfer 74,000 points. Now, that's a great option! In fact, it's your best option besides Alaska!

IMPORTANT: You can transfer Capital One Miles with a 30% bonus, but you must do so today, April 30 as the transfer promo is ending.

Alaska: Great Rate, No Surcharges

If you have Bilt points, Alaska miles are a great option at 50,000 miles one-way. You can also include a free stopover in Santiago on your way to another destination.

Cathay: Great Rate from Miami

With Cathay, you'll need 63,000 miles for a one-way from Miami. This is your best option from Miami if you don't have Alaska miles. You can transfer Amex, Bilt, Capital One, and Citi so the miles are easy to earn.

How To Book

Here's how to run the search with Virgin Atlantic:
  1. Enter origin & destination
  2. Select One way or Round trip
  3. Select date(s)
  4. Select number of passengers
  5. Show flexible dates
  6. Show Price in Points
  7. Show Fares For Upper Class
  8. Click the forward arrow
  9. Select Calendar search (if you're not set on a date)
  10. Filter for direct
  11. Select flights
If booking with another partner program, run a search with that partner to confirm the availability before transferring points.

Final Thoughts

This is a great opportunity to book business class trip to Chile, especially if you can take advantage of a transfer bonus to Virgin Atlantic.

Happy booking!
