Flight Experience

LATAM operates Boeing 787s on these routes. While some of their 787-9s have their newer business class product, none of their 787-8s do.

The newer cabin has a 1-2-1 cabin layout while the older cabin will be arranged in a 2-2-2 layout. Regardless, seats will be lie-flat. The newer layout means each seat has direct aisle access and more privacy. The catering and crew both get solid marks.

Best Ways To Book

Alaska Airlines: Great Rate, Tougher To Earn

If you have Bilt points, 50,000 Alaska miles one-way is a great way to book. You can also include a free stopover in Sao Paulo on your way to another destination.

Cathay Pacific: Great Rate, Easy To Earn, Citi Transfer Bonus

While Cathay requires more miles at 63,000 one-way, it’s much easier to earn Asia Miles via transfer partners such as Amex, Bilt, Capital One, and Citi. Plus, if you have Citi points, you’ll only need to transfer 55,000 points thanks to a 15% transfer bonus.

Most people will find that this is the best option.
