Air France Business Class, Up To 8 Seats
If you live on the west coast, it can feel like airlines just don't want to release business class award space to Europe out of your airports. You're not wrong. It's definitely tougher to find award space on non-stop routes to Europe!
Fortunately, Air France has some business class award space from Los Angeles and Vancouver you're planning to book this fall into January 2025!

Available Dates
Please note that the Air France and KLM sites have been having some issues in the last couple of days. Their calendar search options have been failing and dates that are available fail to show at times.
You might need to use an incognito browser or switch from using Air France or KLM to search. I know this is tedious.

Update To Booking Hotels With Extra Benefits
While you can still book via the self-service booking portal and get perks such as daily breakfast for two, a room upgrade, and a $100 property credit, I've made a small change.
Since some hotels aren't available via the self-serve portal, I've added an option to submit a booking request and I can book your stay manually.
IMPORTANT: You need to pick a hotel and find the Standard Rate/Flexible Rate before submitting a request. You cannot book member rates or prepaid rates with perks. This is not a service to comparison shop.
To book Four Seasons or Rosewood, there's a special request form Four Seasons Preferred Partner can book prepaid rates (it's the exception).
For properties not in the portal, Four Seasons, or Rosewood, submit your booking request here.

Flight Experience
Air France operates both Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 aircraft out of LAX and an A350 out of Vancouver. If you have a choice, Air France's new business class product on the A350 is the way to go.
While both aircraft have a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone layout, each seat has doors on the A350. For more space, select a seat in the first row as the footwell is significantly larger.

Best Ways To Book
Flying Blue: Great Rates, Free Stopover, More Space
Flying Blue's saver level award rate between the US and Europe is quite good at 50,000 miles one-way. The fact that you can transfer points from Amex, Bilt, Capital One, Chase, and Citi make it easy to earn the miles necessary.
You can include a stopover on a one-way but you'll need to call to book.
Connections on partners will generally increase the award rate.

How To Book
You can pick either Air France or KLM's site and run your search. I use Air France and the process works like this:
- Select "Book with miles"
- Select "Log in"
- Sign into your account
- Enter your origin/destination
- Enter your travel date(s)
- Enter the number of passengers
- Enter the class of service
- Run the search
- Select your flights
- Click through to book
Transfers to Flying Blue are generally instant so you don't usually need to worry about award space vanishing. However, you can call and have them hold award space for you. The US number is 800 375-8723.
If you want to book a free stopover, you'll need to call to book.

Final Thoughts
Using 50,000 miles for a one-way business class ticket to Europe is a great way to book and it's even better when you can actually find space from west coast airports.
Happy booking!
