STTP Quick Hit: Aeromexico Biz Class from $1,956
In my attempt to mix in more South America fare deals (and award space), Aeromexico has a business class fare from LAX to Santiago, Chile available through March. It can also be booked via Amex and Chase's travel portals. Dates aren't widespread so I'd move quickly if you want to book.

Flight Experience
Aeromexico's Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner has their older 2-2-2 business class cabin layout rather than the newer 787-9's 1-2-1 reverse herringbone layout.
Still, it's tough to find lie-flat seats to South America so this is a good option if you want to kick back and relax. You can also expect a friendly crew.

Best Ways To Book
Unfortunately, Aeromexico isn't part of Amex IAP so there aren't any discounts on this one. Still, the Amex Business Platinum and Chase Sapphire Reserve provide a solid way to redeem points via their respective travel portals.
Alternatively, you could save your points and pay cash for this one - ideally, with a card that earns 3-5x on airfare.

Where To Credit The Flights
This fare is marketed by Delta and falls under the Z fare class You can use Where To Credit to check which options would earn the most redeemable miles or help you earn elite status.
For those who just want earn redeemable miles, I think your best option is Air France-KLM Flying Blue as you can supplement with several transferable points programs. If Delta status is the priority, credit to SkyMiles.
Use GCMap to check the flight distance and calculate redeemable miles.

Final Thoughts
If you've been thinking about a trip to South America, this is a great opportunity to book a flight with lie-flat seats. I probably wouldn't position to LAX from the east coast for this one, but perhaps from other western cities.
Happy booking!
