ITA Airways Business Class To Italy
We've sent ITA Airways business class fare deals previously, but you can now book award tickets. The caveat is that it seems only Virgin Atlantic Flying Club has access to the space. I called Flying Blue but they couldn't see the space.
Fortunately, you can transfer points to Virgin from every bank program so you shouldn't have an issue getting the points you need to book

Flight Experience
ITA Airways operates three aircraft to the US with different business class cabin layouts.
- Airbus A350-900: 1-2-1 reverse herringbone
- Airbus A330-900neo: 1-2-1 staggered
- Airbus A330-200: 1-2-1 staggered
The A350 and A330neo aircraft are the newest in the fleet and would be my first choices if you have the option. Regardless, ITA has received great reviews for their food, drink, and amenities. Crews also get high marks for being friendly.

Best Ways To Book
Virgin Atlantic: The Only Option, But A Good One
The award rate is determined by a distance-based award chart. From the east coast, you can book a one-way for 75,000 points while a west coast departure increases the rate to 100,000 points. Miami falls in between at 85,000 points.
You can hold award space for up to 24 hours.

How To Book
The fastest way to search is on Virgin's site.
- Select origin/destination
- Select one-way or round-trip
- Select date(s)
- Select number of passengers
- Select Advanced search
- Show Price in Points
- Show Fares For: Upper Class
- Click the arrow to search
- To expand 7-day view to 30 days, select Price Calendar
- To find Delta flights, Filter for Direct
- Select a flight
- Click Continue
- Choose seats
- Select review and pay
- Log into your account to complete booking
Virgin Atlantic Flying Club will put award space on hold for up to 24 hours over the phone (800-862-8621).
How To Find JFK to Milan
If you attempt to enter JFK and MXP as your origin/destination (or vice versa), you'll notice that Virgin will not let you select the option to book with points.
Below the origin and destination box, you'll see an option for "Full Airport List". Click that then select to view alphabetically and select "Milan Malpensa, Italy (MXP)" or "Milan, Italy (MIL)".
After that, you can select points then Upper Class.
You have to go through this process each time you want to search new dates.
