Etihad Apartments, Paris to Abu Dhabi |
| Etihad offers one of the best first class experiences in The Apartments on its Airbus A380s. Of course, it’s not easy to book with partner programs (the real sweet spot) to/from the US these days.
However, if you’re someone who likes to combine two or three destinations in a trip, you can book The Apartments between Paris and Abu Dhabi. Personally, I’d book the flight from Abu Dhabi so you can check out the first class lounge

Etihad's Apartments are arranged in a 1-1 cabin layout. Your seat is separate from your bed. Personally, I like the rear-facing window seats (3A and 3K). Plus, there's an inflight shower. You can expect caviar, champagne, and a very nice meal. With only 9 seats in the cabin, the service is also quite impressive. |

American: Great Rate, No Transfer Partners
Unfortunately, American doesn’t have any transfers partners besides Marriott. That means your only credit card options for earning AA moles are the co-branded Barclays and Citi cards. However, the one-way rate of 62,500 miles is fantastic!
Etihad: More Award Space, Easy To Earn
Let’s be frank, Etihad’s award rate is steep at 140,000 miles one-way - plus, the cancellation fees are egregious. While speculative bookings can make sense with other programs, I recommend only using Etihad miles when you’re confident you’ll take the trip.
Unfortunately, Etihad Guest is your only option if you have transferable points.
