When ITA Airways announced it's new route from Chicago, I thought they might release some business class award space. Fortunately, they did and quite a bit!

Flight Experience
ITA Airways operates two aircraft on this route:
- Airbus A330-900neo: 1-2-1 staggered
- Airbus A330-200: 1-2-1 staggered
The A330neo aircraft has the newest business class product and would be my choice. Regardless, ITA has received great reviews for their food, drink, and amenities. Crews also get high marks for being friendly.

Best Ways To Book
Virgin Atlantic: The Only Option, But A Good One
The award rate is determined by a distance-based award chart. From Chicago, you can book a one-way award ticket for 75,000 points. If you transfer Chase and/or Citi points, you'll only need 58,000 points for the one-way.

How To Book
The fastest way to search is on Virgin's site.
- Select origin/destination
- If FCO isn't an option, click Full Airport List then select FCO
- Select one-way or round-trip
- Select date(s)
- Select number of passengers
- Select Advanced search
- Show Price in Points
- Show Fares For: Upper Class
- Click the arrow to search
- To expand 7-day view to 30 days, select Price Calendar
- Filter for Direct
- Select a date
- Select the flight
- Click Continue
- Choose seats
- Select review and pay
- Log into your account to complete booking
Virgin Atlantic Flying Club will put award space on hold for up to 24 hours, but you'll need to call to do so (800-862-8621).

Final Thoughts
It's great to see Virgin Atlantic with access to ITA Airways award space on their new route. With the dates available, you can lock in a spring or summer trip!
