LATAM Business Class, Up To 8 Seats

It was great meeting and reconnecting with so many of you at the Chicago Seminars this weekend! I had a great time chatting about premium cabin redemptions and hearing about your upcoming adventures!

A big welcome to everyone who joined STTP Premium at the event!

Today, we have business class award space (up to 8 seats) to Chile. While some destinations in South America are pretty close, these flights are 8-10 hours so you'll really appreciate a lie-flat seat!

Flight Experience

LATAM operates Boeing 787s on these routes. While some of their 787s have their newer business class product, it doesn't look like these routes have it.

The business class cabin will be arranged in a 2-2-2 layout. This layout is open so there isn't any privacy. Each seat will be lie-flat. If you're traveling solo, a middle section seat is ideal since both seats have direct aisle access.

The catering and crew both get solid marks overall.

Best Ways To Book

Alaska: Great Rate, No Surcharges

While Alaska miles are tough to earn, you can book for only 45,000 miles one-way and you won't be on the hook for any surcharges. You can also include a free stopover in Santiago on your way to another destination such as Rio.

Cathay: Great Rate from Miami

With Cathay, you'll need 63,000 miles for a one-way from Miami. This is your best option from Miami if you don't have Alaska miles. You can transfer Amex, Bilt, Capital One, and Citi so miles are easy to earn.

Virgin Atlantic: Easy To Earn + Chase 30%Transfer Bonus

You can transfer points to Virgin Atlantic from all of the bank programs so it's easy to earn points. If you have Chase points, the 30% transfer bonus turns this into the second best option from JFK and LAX. You'll only need to transfer 74,000 points to get the 95,000 points needed to book a one-way ticket.

How To Book

Here's how to run the search with Alaska:
  1. If you want to book a one-way, check "One-way"
  2. Check "Use miles"
  3. Enter your origin & destination
  4. Select your dates
  5. Select number of passengers
  6. Run the search
  7. Complete the booking
If you want to see a calendar of options, you'll want to use this page to search.

If booking with another partner program, run a search with that partner to confirm the availability before transferring points.

Final Thoughts

This is a great opportunity to book the whole family a business class trip to Chile! As cash tickets to could make using the Chase or Amex travel portals a better option, I would check Google Flights before finalzing plans.

Happy booking!
