Air France Business Class, Up To 8 Seats
A couple of weeks ago, I sent Air France business class space from the west coast. This time, it's the east coast and midwest's turn for Air France space.
Most of the space is in later 2024 or early 2025, but you can find some summer dates from JFK and Canada as well.

Available Dates
Please note that the Air France and KLM sites have been having some issues in the last couple of days. Their calendar search options have been failing and dates that are available fail to show at times.
You might need to use an incognito browser or switch from using Air France or KLM to search. I know this is tedious.

Flight Experience
Air France operates several aircraft on these routes that have a 1-2-1 business class cabin layout. Often this is a reverse herringbone layout. Seats on select A350s and 777s also have doors.
Some A350s have a staggered 1-2-1 layout similar to United Polaris.
Air France often gets high marks for the food, wine, and crew. However, my flight was underwhelming on all fronts and have heard similar from others. Still, most people seem to have nice flights. Just something to keep in mind.

Best Ways To Book
Flying Blue: Great Rates, Free Stopover, More Award Space
Flying Blue's saver level award rate between the US and Europe is quite good at 50,000 miles one-way. The fact that you can transfer points from Amex, Bilt, Capital One, Chase, and Citi make it easy to earn the miles necessary.
You can include a stopover on a one-way but you'll need to call to book.
Connections on partners will generally increase the award rate.
Virgin Atlantic: Amazing Rate With Citi Transfer Bonus
With the 30% Citi transfer bonus, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club quickly jumps Flying Blue as the best way to book. You won't find nearly as much award space with Virgin, but it's worth a quick check if you have Citi points
If you have Citi points, the 30% transfer bonus means you'll only need to transfer the following:
- Off-peak: 38,000 points
- Peak: 45,000 points

How To Book
You can pick either Air France or KLM's site and run your search. I use Air France and the process works like this:
- Select "Book with miles"
- Select "Log in"
- Sign into your account
- Enter your origin/destination
- Enter your travel date(s)
- Enter the number of passengers
- Enter the class of service
- Run the search
- Select your flights
- Click through to book
Transfers to Flying Blue are generally instant so you don't usually need to worry about award space vanishing. You can call to hold award space or book a stopover. The US number is 800-375-8723.
To put a ticket on hold with Virgin Atlantic, call 800-862-8621.

Final Thoughts
Using 50,000 miles for a one-way business class ticket to Europe is a great way to book and it's even better when you can actually find space from west coast airports. If you have Citi points and can book an off-peak date with Virgin points, that's really a steal!
Happy booking!
