| | Flight Experience United operates their Boeing 787-8 on this route. You’ll find a 1-2-1 cabin layout with a lie-flat seat with direct aisle access.
When departing from the U.S., I generally suggest eating at the Polaris Lounge and skipping meal service on the flight. Polaris Lounges typically have much better food and a solid selection of drinks.

| Best Ways To Book
Lifemiles: Great Option With Citi Transfer Bonus
The lifemiles rate of 80,000 miles one-way is higher than Aeroplan requires, but with Citi’s 25% transfer bonus, you’d only need 64,000 ThankYou points. This rate applies from anywhere in the U.S. and/or if you connect within Africa on a Star Alliance partner. With Citi points, this is your best option.
If you redeem lots of lifemiles each year, it might be worth getting a lifemiles+ subscription to get a 10% rebate on Star Alliance redemptions.
Aeroplan: Great One-Way Option For Several Bank Programs
Aeroplan is a great option for a one-way at 70,000 points, especially if you don’t have Citi points. Please keep in mind that if a connection adds ~558+ flight miles to your journey, the award rate will jump to 90,000 Aeroplan points.
If you have the Chase Aeroplan Card, you can also get a 10% transfer bonus when you transfer 50,000+ Chase Ultimate Rewards points. With the bonus, you’ll only need to transfer 64,000 points.
You can also include a stopover for 5,000 additional miles. Use GCmap to calculate your total flight distance and double-check Aeroplan's award chart.
ANA: Great Round-Trip Option With Amex, Slow Transfers
At 130,000 miles round-trip, ANA Mileage Club is a great round-trip option. However, Amex is your only transfer option and transfers can take a few days.
Connections won't increase the award rate but could increase the taxes/fees if you connect on a Star Alliance partner that has surcharges. |
| | How To Search
Search with United: Select Advanced search Choose to show price in miles Select Roundtrip or One-way Enter the origin & destination Select Nonstop only (if you don't need a connection) Select the number of passengers Select your dates or choose Flexible dates and choose a month Select Business Run the search
Search with the program you want to use to book before you transfer points.
