Business Class to Lisbon & Terceira Island from $1,850

TAP Air Portugal typically has the lowest business class cash fares to Europe these days. While many business class fares exceed $2,000 these days, you can often find TAP fares for around $1,950.

Still, this one seemed worth flagging as it's cheaper even for TAP and you can include a stopover in Lisbon on your way to one of the Portuguese islands.

Now, let's get into the details!

Flight Experience

Some flights will be operated by an Airbus A321neo. It's a single aisle aircraft with a cabin similar to the older JetBlue Mint product which is arranged in 1-1/2-2 layout. The food won't blow you away but the crews are friendly.

Best Ways To Book

While you can just connect in Lisbon on your way to Terceira Island, I strongly recommend including a stopover in Lisbon. If you have time, make it an extended stopover and explore other parts of Portugal.

If you're booking a cash ticket, I'd book directly with TAP Air Portugal. If you'd rather use points, just over 123,000 Chase points with the Sapphire Reserve is a solid option.

Where To Credit The Flights

Since these are cash tickets, you can earn redeemable airline miles so make sure to attach your desired loyalty program number to your booking.

If you're not sure which program to use, check Where To Credit to see which options will earn you the most redeemable miles.

I'd consider crediting these flights to a program that is also part of a transferable points program.
  • Air Canada Aeroplan: 200%
  • Avianca LifeMiles: 200%
  • Singapore KrisFlyer: 200%
  • Turkish Miles&Smiles: 150%
  • United MileagePlus: 125%
For most people, I'd probably suggest Aeroplan since you can also transfer points from Amex, Bilt, Cap One, and Chase or LifeMiles because of its partnerships with Amex and Capital One.

If you hold elite status with a Star Alliance carrier, that could also impact your decision if you'd like to use these flights to help requalify.

You can use GCMap to check the total flight distance if you want to calculate redeemable and status qualifying miles.

Final Thoughts

This is a great fare if you want to see a Portuguese island and Lisbon. While I haven't been to Terceira, I highly recommend Lisbon.

If you include a stopover in Lisbon, my friend Antonio is a fantastic tour guide. You can check out his tour schedule here.

Happy booking!
