Finnair Business Class To Europe, 2 Seats

Flight Experience

Finnair's business class is arranged in a 1-2-1 layout and the seats are different than you'll find on any other airline. The seats don't recline. Instead, the padding lines the shell of the seat so you can sit or recline against it as you might a couch.

I've always found the crews to be friendly and helpful. While I wouldn't say the food isn’t top tier for business class, it's more than good enough. If anything, Finnair is known for its glassware. So, some champagne or one of their signature cocktails.

Best Ways To Book

Finnair Plus: Great Option For 2 Seats + Transfer Bonuses

Now that Finnair is part of the Avios family, this is one of the best ways to book as you’ll only need 62,500 Avios one-way and you can combine points across all Avios airlines.

While Capital One miles transfer directly to Finnair, you can also transfer Amex, Bilt, and Chase points to British Airways and Citi points to Qatar Airways. With the 30% Amex transfer bonus to British Airways, you’d only need to transfer 49,000 points.

If you have Citi points, Qatar Airways will give you a 25% bonus when you transfer plus an additional 10,000 points if you transfer 100,000+ Citi points. If you’re booking round-trip or for two people, this could be your best option.

I use British Airways as my hub for Avios. You can easily combine Avios into your BA account then distribute to other Avios airlines as you please.

Cathay: Great Option For 2 Seats

If you want to book two seats, Cathay is often the only option. At 63,000 miles one-way from JFK or ORD, this is a great option. At 89,000 miles from further west, it’s not quite as good but it might be your only option.

On the plus side, you can transfer points from Amex, Bilt, Capital One, and Citi.

If you include a connection within Europe on Finnair, the award rate will ofteen increase. Similarly, if you include a domestic connection on Alaska or American, the award will be set by Cathay's Oneworld multi-carrier award chart.

American: Great Option For 1 Seat

While American can only book one seat, 57,500 miles is a great way to book a one-way award. If you want to book two seats, you could book one with American miles and the second with Finnair or Cathay.

As a test, I put one seat on hold with American miles and a second seat was still available when I searched with Cathay Pacific.

On the rare occasion, you’ll find two seats available to American.

Alaska: Great Option For 1 Seat With Bilt Points

From JFK, Alaska Mileage Plan has a slight advantage over other options at 55,000 miles one-way. From DFW, the rate jumps to 70,000 miles so other options are better.

However, you can include a stopover on a one-way award ticket so that could make Alaska miles a better option.
