Last month's Spontaneous Escapes included business class on Singapore Air's fifth freedom route between JFK and Frankfurt. However, space was limited. This time, we have a nice chunk of space during promo dates and beyond!

Flight Experience
Singapore Airlines operates a Boeing 777 on the Frankfurt route. The business class cabin is arranged in a 1-2-1 layout so each seat has direct aisle access on both aircraft.
While the seats are lie-flat, you have to sleep diagonally in the bed position because of the way the foot wells are situated. If you're taller, you might find this a touch annoying. The bulkhead seats have a larger footwell.
The crews are known for being proactive and friendly. Some would say they're among the best in the air. Similarly, the inflight catering gets high marks.

Best Ways To Book
Singapore: Slight Advantage With Promo, More Space
If you don't have Chase points and you're flying in January, Singapore KrisFlyer has a slight advantage over Aeroplan - 56,700 miles vs 60,000 points. Amex, Capital One, and Citi transfer to Singapore in addition to Chase.
Please note that transfers to Singapore aren't usually instant, especially if you haven't transferred to them previously. However, in my experience, Capital One transfers are instant.
Air Canada: Great Rate, Best Option With Chase Points
Outside the January promo dates, Aeroplan is easily your best. Plus, if you are transferring points from Chase, the 20% transfer bonus makes it the best option regardless. With the bonus, you'll only need 50,000 Chase points to get the necessary 60,000 Aeroplan points for a non-stop.
Please note that connections could increase the award rate, but it will still likely be a better option than Singapore KrisFlyer.

If booking with Singapore KrisFlyer, search with Singapore Airlines.

- Log into your account
- Select Redeem flights
- Enter origin/destination
- Select date(s)
- From calendar, you can select one-way
- Select class of service
- Select number of passengers
If you're concerned about delays when transferring points to Singapore, you can call and see if they'll hold the award space.

Whether you can get them to hold award space really depends on the phone agent so be ready to hang up, call again (HUCA). If they refuse, stay friendly and don't argue.
If booking with Aeroplan points, I would search with Air Canada as Singapore Airlines sometimes provides additional award space to KrisFlyer members. To search with Aeroplan:

- Select one-way or round-trip
- Enter origin/destination

Final Thoughts
It's nice to see a bunch of promo dates to/from Frankfurt after a couple months of sparse availability. Plus, there's tons of space throughout the year!
