Best Ways To Book
Etihad Guest: The Only Way To Book Early
Etihad is only releasing premium cabin award space to partners within 30 days of departure. That means Etihad Guest is your only option to book early, but miles are easy to earn as you can transfer from Amex, Capital One, and Citi.
While Etihad Guest's award rates aren't great, the current promos offered by Amex and Etihad on Capital One transfers make it less painful.
Amex Transfer Bonus
With the 20% Amex transfer bonus, you'd need to transfer 100,000 points to get the necessary 120,000 Etihad miles for a one-way award. That's steep, but potentially useful if you have specific travel dates and need to lock in flights.
Capital One Transfer Bonus By Etihad
This transfer bonus is handled on the Etihad side so you won't see it mentioned on Capital One's site nor will you see the bonus reflected while transferring. Data points suggest that the bonus miles have been posting instantly.
If you transfer 50,001+ Capital One Miles to Etihad, you'll receive a 40% bonus. That means you'd only need to transfer 86,000 Capital One Miles to get the necessary 120,000 Etihad miles to book a one-way award.

Stopover
If you want to include a stopover, you'll need to call Etihad to book (877-690-0767). I would strongly recommend confirming availability before calling.

Final Thoughts
While I'd love to see award space available to American AAdvantage and Air Canada Aeroplan, Etihad has restricted premium cabin availability to partner programs. That leaves us with Etihad Guest.
However, with a 20-40% transfer bonus, the points required can be reasonable and you can lock in award space beyond 30 days from departure.
