Boston-London: BA from $1,784, JetBlue from $1,932

Piggybacking on the yesterday's Award Alert for JetBlue space, we also have a solid cash fare deal from Boston to London. In fact, this JetBlue route launch is playing out a lot like the one from JFK.

When they launched flights from JFK, Virgin Atlantic ran a fare deal in response. Out of Boston, we're now seeing a British Airways fare deal in response to the JetBlue launch.

In fact, British Airways is actually cheaper with a couple of tricks.

Now, let's get into it!
You can upgrade to the Mint Studio. Check out my thoughts!

Flight Experience

JetBlue

The new Mint product on the Airbus A321LR is arranged in a 1-1 cabin layout. While I wish the seats weren't angled away from the windows, I found the Mint Suite to be spacious enough to sleep comfortably. Or, if you're like me and struggle to sleep on planes, at least snooze a little.

One think I'll note is that if you're on a full flight from JFK to London, get your meal and dessert served together. Even with the crew hustling like crazy, it took them a while to get everyone served - downside of single aisle.

On both of my flights, I was really impressed with the food as well as the crew. They genuinely seemed to want passengers to have a great experience.

British Airways

The Boeing 777 has 1-2-1 seating in a reverse herringbone layout. Each Club Suite also has a privacy door, though it's a bit short. Your experience with the crew can vary a bit, but I've generally had friendly/helpful crews. The inflight catering has improved over the years but it's still not quite back to normal.

The A380 has the older business class seat so I would avoid it.

Best Ways To Book

JetBlue

If you're booking JetBlue, I'd book directly with the airline. If you have the Amex Business Platinum and want to earn 5x, you could book via Amex Travel. Also, if you have the Biz Platinum, you can use the 35% rebate to book for ~126,000k Membership Rewards points.

British Airways

To get the fare down to ~$1,784, you'll need to join AARP to get the $200 premium cabin discount on British Airways bookings. Once you've found flights you want, you'll then log into your account and add the voucher code CHASEBA10 for an additional 10% off.

Where To Credit The Flights

JetBlue I'll note that this booking books into the "I" (eye) fare class and Singapore KrisFlyer doesn't show that as an option on its JetBlue page. I don't know if it's out of date or you simply can't earn miles on the transatlantic flights (like AA).

British Airways

Many will choose to credit British Airways flights to Alaska, American, or British Airways itself. If you're not sure which you prefer, I'd start by checking Where To Credit. It's always a good idea to double check with the airline earn charts themselves as well.

Use GCMap to check the flight distance and calculate redeemable miles.

Bottom Line

I've noticed an increase in business class cash fares to Europe in the last few weeks so it's nice to see an option below $1,800. Hopefully, JetBlue will help keep business class fares to Europe in check on this route going forward.

Happy booking!
