| JetBlue can now book TAP Air Portugal flights and the one-way award rate on nonstop flights just edges out Aeroplan. With space for up to nine people in business class through the fall, this is a great time to book TAP flights to Europe!

On their A321neo, TAP offers 1-1/2-2 business class layout similar to the older JetBlue Mint product. On their A330, you’ll find 1-2-1 business class layout similar to United Polaris. Overall, it’s a solid product with nice crews, though the food can be a bit underwhelming at times. |

JetBlue: Great Citi or Chase Option
At 59,000 points for a one-way award, JetBlue has 1,000-point advantage over Aeroplan. It’s not much, but you might as well since it’s easy to book with JetBlue. However, I will caution that connections will increase the rate.
This is a great option with Citi points. With Chase points, it’s also a great option if you don’t have the Chase Aeroplan Card - more on that below. Amex points transfer at a 1:0.8 ratio so it’s not a great option.
Aeroplan: Great One-Way Award Rate
Aeroplan is a great option at 60,000 points one-way. If you have the Chase Aeroplan Card, you can also get a 10% transfer bonus when you transfer 50,000+ Ultimate Rewards points which means you’d only need 55,000 Chase points.
Please keep in mind that connections could increase the rate to 70,000 points or even 90,000 points if you fly connect from the west coast and within Europe.
You can also include a stopover for 5,000 additional miles. Use GCmap to calculate your total flight distance and double-check Aeroplan's award chart.
ANA: Great Round-trip Option, Slow Amex Transfers
At 100,000 miles, ANA Mileage Club is your best round-trip option. However, Amex is your only transfer option and transfers can take a couple of days.
Connections won't increase the award rate but could increase the taxes/fees if you connect in Europe on a Star Alliance partner that has surcharges. |
