| Flight Experience For the best experience, you'll want to find Air France and KLM flights operated by aircraft with a 1-2-1 business class cabin layout. This will provide the most privacy and direct aisle access in addition to a lie-flat seat.

| | Best Ways To Book
Flying Blue: Great Rates, Free Stopover, More Award Space
Flying Blue's saver level award rate between the US and Europe is quite good at 50,000 miles one-way. The fact that you can transfer points from Amex, Bilt, Capital One, Chase, and Citi make it easy to earn the miles necessary.
You can include a stopover on a one-way but you'll need to call to book.
Connections on partners will generally increase the award rate.
Virgin Atlantic: Slightly Better On Off-Peak Dates From East Coast
At 48,500 points from the east coast and Chicago, Virgin Atlantic has a slight edge over Flying Blue. However, Virgin doesn’t get access to most space. |

| How To Book
You can pick either Air France or KLM's site and run your search. I use Air France and the process works like this: Select "Book with miles" Select "Log in" Sign into your account Enter your origin/destination Enter your travel date(s) Enter the number of passengers Enter the class of service Run the search Select your flights Click through to book
Transfers to Flying Blue are generally instant so you don't usually need to worry about award space vanishing. You can call to hold award space or book a stopover. The US number is 800-375-8723.
To put a ticket on hold with Virgin Atlantic, call 800-862-8621. |
| Final Thoughts
Using 50,000 miles for a one-way business class ticket to Europe is a great way to book. If you haven’t booked your summer trip to Europe yet, I’d lock it in ASAP!
Happy booking! |
